The factoring working group is a new subgroup within the Fort William, Inverlochy and Torlundy Community Council.

 

The new independent factoring working group that will help serve the 18 Tenement Flat Blocks in Upper Achintore and Claggan.  These are majority owner occupied and have great difficulty in finding help to report the issues that can become a problem for their block as there is no current system in place to do so. 

 

The working group will maintain contact with the Highland Council Ward 21 Councillors and current factors on behalf of the owners; running within the Community Council provides the community with a stronger voice and support.

 

To also advise on setting up owner’s associations and advising on sinking funds that will be a requirement of the Tenement draft bill from the Scottish Government from 2026 onwards.

 

To work with any new factors that are appointed in the area from 2025 onwards and Ward Councillors and the Highland Council. 

 

The Group will be run by Community Councillors - Marie Nolan and Paul Neil, Independent Advice from Peter Murphy (Estate Agent) and a couple of Ward 21 Councillors.

 

The Tenement flats that will be covered by the working group will be as follows –

 

Upper Achintore 

Ross Place, Moray Place, 38 to 116 Lundavra Road, Connochie Road and Lochaber Place.
